Rum City Thunderbolts 104 vs CARD Crash Test Honeyz 350
Saturday, 10 November, 2012.

It wasn’t the underdog coming from behind story we all dreamed about but the Thunderbolts can hold their heads high after their first ever inter-league bout. Despite being pitted against a much more experienced opposition, the girls from the Rum City Derby Dolls went into the bout with all guns blazing. We held the lead after the first three jams before the experience of the Crash Test Honeyz helped them overtake us. We kept fighting until the end and managed to get a very respectful 104 points on the board.

All of the Thunderbolts put in an outstanding effort and it was certainly a learning experience for the team. The Crash Test Honeyz were a fantastic opposition and we had as much fun with them at the after party as we did on the track.

We’re all looking forward to seeing the Thunderbolts in action again in 2013.

What an amazing night! We had a fantastic crowd in to support the league and raise funds for the Breast Cancer network.

We started the night with a brief rundown on the basics of derby from our junior members, The Rum City Rink Rats. They did an excellent job demonstrating the basics of roller derby to the crowd.

Once the crowd had an idea of what was going on, it was time to introduce the two teams for the night. We were very lucky to have some great skaters from Coastal Assassin Roller Derby and Cap Coast Derby Dolls to help us show Bundaberg the thrill of derby.
